Chunky

Lilly got her 4 months shots today and is grumpily pretending to nap in her crib.
Snug is now 12lb 6oz!
This puts her in the 20th percentile by weight and prompted her pediatrician
to call Snug "chunky".

If It's Sunday, It's Ask Snug!

-Cindy!

"If I had a thousand hats, I would share them with my friends."

Budding Paleontologist?

Yesterday, James Gurney signed his book, DINOTOPIA, for Lilly. Today, Snug excitedly tried to dress up as a dinosaur, but only succeeded in looking like a baby in a bear hat.

If It's Sunday, It's Ask Snug!

Isn't "Snagged" the correct form of the past participle?
- Querulously,
Q. Shorebird

Dear Q.,

Trick
y question! Note that the sentences "Latham got snagged in a risky bank heist" and "Latham got Snug in a risky bank heist" mean totally different things.

If It's Sunday (or sometimes Friday), It's Ask Snug!

How to be fabulous!
Snug would like to answer this question from "long-time reader" today, since sources indicate that this reader will be away on Sunday.

You seem to be indicating that wide ties are the way to go for business dress. Can you elaborate on advice for male wardrobes in our new lean times? How can I make as good a first impression as you do? - long-time reader, first-time asker

Dear, long-time reader,

The spring and summer collections of Etro, DSquared, Fendi, Kilgour, and Lanvin revealed that the new male trend is toward no ties, bow ties, and scarves. Here, Snug is modeling the latest fashion in adultware (the baby trend remains "kawaii") that will make a killer first impression: skull-cap, scarf, patterned jumper, and denim shoes.

Almost a dozen lbs

Snug is
11 lbs 13 oz!

In this photo, at the pediatric clinic earlier this morning, Lilly was eyeing suspiciously a crying baby next to her. Right now, grumpy and achy from her RSV shot, Snug is doing what she does very well these days - contemplating the latest fashion trends.

WEIGH-IN tomorrow

I am betting that Snug has passed the 12 lb mark

Gossip Girl

Over a cup of warm milk, Lilly and I gossiped about our extremely eventful day today.

Today, we stopped at the JCC to sign up for music classes; we picked up a comic at The Beguiling; we bought new bottles at Grassroots; and when we got home our water was shut off.

Snug just discovered comics!

Parade

Lilly and I went to the St. Patrick's day parade. Can you find us in this photo? (Hint: Snug is in a stroller and I am the one taking the picture)

If It's Sunday, It's Ask Snug!

Dear Isnug Merzrahi, temperatures are rising, spring collections are arriving, how will babies be dressing in the new austerity? Can't you tell us a little about your new furnishings line At Home I Snug? -- Atwitter in Sunnyside

The spring and summer collections are, in fact, here. This season's theme can be summed up in one word: KAWAII.

Above photo is a snapshot of what you missed on the runway.
(Left: please note that Lilly is slumping on the new model of the "urban kiddy recliner". Right: the skirt is back in swimwear.)

If It's Sunday (or sometimes Saturday), It's Ask Snug!

NOTE: We apologize for missing last week's "Ask Snug" - we'll be answering two questions this week (today and tomorrow).

Dear Poet Snugstress, we were so moved by your poem on the back page of Pink Elephant Magazine, "I too Snug America," could you speak with us of your inspiration? -- A near Bard

Dear near,
I am flattered that you have mistaken me for one of my favorite poets, Snugston Hughes. I am sure that "I too Snug America" was inspired by real events (I've included the poem below for everyone to enjoy).

********
I, too, snug America.

I am the smaller Boyle.
They make me drink from the bottle
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Drink from the bottle,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how chubby I am
And be ashamed--

I, too, am a Boyle.

PEN-PALS

"99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall ...."

Snug's pen-pal, Aaron, came over tonight and she put on her MC Hammer pants to play and sing together.

4 MONTHS!

Happy 4 months birthday, Lilly!
We have a couple more months to go before Snug starts solid food, but it's never too early to practice holding a spoon.

ALMOST FAMOUS: Munch (march #1)

Snail mail

Lilly received her first piece of mail yesterday (thanks Aaron!). She was thrilled; but it illuminated what she has been missing. Snug hopes that others will send her letters as well - she will treasure them.

(thanks for the hat Mrs. Bole, for the onesie Kapinoses,
for the pants Nana and Grandpa Osik, and for the soother Anna C.!)

Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood

On our drive back home to Toronto, we stopped in Applebee's in Buffalo where Lilly had her first meal at a restaurant and watched old footage of Mike Ditka from the 1980s.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA MER!

(Photo: Nana and Lilly)

Snug wishes Nana Mer a happy birthday and hopes
that she enjoys the Snuggie (TM) that Lilly got for her.

Mirror, mirror on the wall ...

Lilly caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror today and was
shocked to discover how little hair she has.

Politics in Hard Times
Hey Snug! what do you think about Obama's first presidential visit to Canada?
- Anya (a fellow young Canadian)

(Photo: by popular demand,
the tie is back!)
Dear Anya,
I'm a big fan of President Obama, so I was excited about his first international visit to "our home and native land" and wore my Obama onesie throughout his entire stay (thanks Quincy!). The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) took excellent care of him and inspired me to add the mounties to the list of jobs I want to have when I grow up (others include: explorer, zoo keeper, and hot air balloonist).
