Who loves LEGOs?

Lillian has been in love with LEGOs.
She just finished the Millennium Falcon and Death Star Final Duel (ages 9-14). She does them entirely on her own!

MasterChef Junior Junior

Lillian and I have been watching the reality show "MasterChef Junior." She is really into trying all of the challenges from the show at home.

Two weeks ago she perfectly seared scallops and plated them on couscous and corn.

Last week, she filleted and pan seared rainbow trout.

Birthday experiment

Our gift to Lillian, for her birthday, was to give her a day when parents say "Yes" to everything. We had no idea how it would play out, but thought that it was worth experimenting with.

I can sum up the day in four words: simple pleasures, complicated LEGOs.

She had chocolate cake for breakfast, second breakfast, and lunch (and sushi for dinner). She took a warm bath, in the dark, with glowsticks in the tub, at 10am.  We watched Inside Out (her 5th time watching it) and an episode of MasterChef Junior (a reality show where 8 to 13 year-olds participate in a cooking competition). We went swimming and ended up relaxing in a jacuzzi. She asked for a huge LEGO Millennium Falcon set and worked on it, on her own, for five hours, while humming the birthday song to herself. There was also some snuggling, some tossing of balloons, some playing with Russian nesting dolls, and walking around most of the day in only her underwear.

Lillian had a blast at her 7th birthday party today.
32 kids at a "max of 20" party at Sky Zone.

Thank you for the love!

I feel fortunate that we have this space 10 minutes from our house.

Andrew's visit

When Andrew Mitchell (our college roommate) came to visit us, we took him to the Evergreen Brickworks for a hike.
