What a difference a day makes ...

... and by "a day," I meant "five months."

On the left is Lillian's self-portrait, made in September, when she just started school.  And on the right is her self-portrait drawn in February (she is wearing her Branksome uniform).

Family Day Gruffalo

Lillian and Emilia went to the movies this weekend and met a Gruffalo.

I also took Lillian to see all of the Oscar nominated animated shorts.  We both agreed that the "Paperman" should get the award.

Future medical illustrators

Yesterday, I came to Lillian's school to talk to her class about my job - about being a medical illustrator.  The kids loved it!  I just received this HUGE thank you card from them.  They call me, Ms. M.  In clockwise order and starting from the upper right corner, the drawings on the card are: heart, foot, skeleton, hand, brain, and eye.
Awesome!

Busy Weekend

This weekend was so extremely busy .....

First, we ate Oreo cookies and

made a lemon clock.

That is, we powered a digital clock using a lemon instead of a battery - it was awesome!

Then, Lillian and I went to see Cinema Kabuki called Heron Maiden - it was exquisite.  Lillian loved it.  It was a 30 minute performance by a Kabuki dancer who changed costumes on stage six times, danced beautifully, and the character died in the end.  Awesome!

We picked up skeleton cookies from my friend Kim.

And then we ate them.

And then there was Emilia's birthday party (skating).
And then there was Sunday afternoon tea with Aija.
And then we made 16 Valentine's Day paintings for Lillian's school friends.

Oh, I almost forgot, it was really snowy this weekend, so we climbed a few really high piles and threw snow balls at each other.

Wait, sometime during the weekend (I am not sure exactly when) we ended up playing with a huge card board pirate ship.
