Lillian and Emilia posed for the daycare brochure pictures in front of their cubbies. Thank you, Nikhila, for Lillian's outfit!

Best Day Ever

We spent our Sunday morning at Emilia's house. It was a pleasure and a privilege to play with these two princesses today.

Clowning around

On Wednesday, we wen out to for noodles, and these two clowns posed for photos with much enthusiasm.

Light box

On Tuesday, I took out my little light box and showed Lillian how to use it. She is tracing a picture of daddy.

Egg throwing contest

On Monday, we realized that our eggs were too old. So we had an egg throwing contest. Lillian won!

Sunday Brunch at the Neighbor's Pad

We went over to our neighbor's place to have waffles on Sunday morning. Lillian wore her light-blue monster costume and enjoyed the view from their window.

Painting / Skating

Last Saturday, Lillian and I returned to our abstract painting. She used the "skating on canvas" technique to cover two of her works.

Getting dressed this morning was super easy - light blue dress, light blue tiara, light blue pony-tails :)

visiting The Cousins

It was Sasha's 40th birthday last week and we went down to Madison, Wisconsin to celebrate with our cousins.

We ate delicious food and Lillian fed each other chocolate chip snacks.

Lillian enjoyed watching "Horton Hears a Who" with Mimi and Lana.

She caught up on sleep.

She taught her light blue fairy all about air travel.

And she brought home a healthy attitude of mischief.

midnight chemistry

Very late last night, post bath and in zebra pajamas, we attempted to do a milk-swirl experiment inspired by kiwi crates; and, as predicted, we put our own slimy spin on it. In the end, the best part turned out to be squeezing wet marshmallows.

New Years

I forgot to post some photos from our New Year's Eve party.

First, we built a plaster volcano, painted it, and exploded it.

Those under 10 years old assembled and decorated a gingerbread house with occupants.

We ate like royalty thanks to mom's amazing hands.

And we played Blockus with much joy.

"Two Special Dinosaurs"

Lillian wrote her first short story this week.
She dictated the whole thing to me. We then posed her toys in front of a white piece of paper and took photos. I compiled it in PhotoShop and here it is. If you would like to own a signed copy, then please send requests to snug.boyle(at)gmail.com . ENJOY!

no snow

It was not a white Christmas this year. On Boxing Day, it snowed for exactly one hour. Delightedly, we took advantage of this and built the first ever, I believe, vampire snow bunny. All of the snow melted away by dinner time, but we captured our work on "film."

X-mas morning part 4 of 4

The morning's activities concluded with an intense game of Othello with Uncle Matt.

X-mas morning part 3 of 4

Exhausted from opening gifts, Lillian brunched on delicious lox.

X-mas morning part 2 of 4

After we opened a few gifts, Aunt Rachel read Lillian a Daniel Manus Pinkwater book.

X-mas morning part 1 of 4

The first thing that we did on Christmas morning was make omelets before others woke up.

Masterpiece

Before we drove to Cleveland for the holidays, Lillian and I painted one more masterpiece. Brushes were not necessary.

really jealous

We went to an indoor playground and Lillian got to jump, repeatedly, into a pool of plastic balls. I was really jealous.

mixing it up

It's not that easy to see in this photo, but Lillian is wearing foam red antlers over her owl hat and eating a dreidel cookie.

pretty in pink and light blue

A few weeks before Emilia's sister, Matilda, was born, Lillian came over to play princesses and help her best friend prepare for the baby's arrival.

Matilda was born on Dec. 17th - weighing a very healthy 10 pounds and 6 ounces.

glass blowing

At one of the holiday parties, the entertainment was a glass blower (whose real name is John Layton - you'll chuckle at this if you're Canadian). He made Lillian a beautiful glass elephant - her new favorite animal (her old favorite was a blue-tongued skink).

Enjoying a party

Lillian is a great guest at every party.

from India with love

Latham was in India for 10 days in the beginning of December. When he returned, he brought Lillian two light blue lehenga-cholis (with little bells) - just in time to be festive while wrapping gifts.

back to blog ...

I would like to apologize for taking such a long hiatus.
I could blame the holidays, but I should blame the dress.
Lillian had fallen in love with this light blue dress and demanded to wear it (day and night) for about a month. So, almost all of the photos were of her in the same dress. I finally did manage to pull a few images together and will post them shortly.
Here's the culprit:
