Summer in Toronto

Today, we went to the Toronto Caribana festival at the Harbourfront in the evening. The morning, however, was spent on Ward Island where we tried to fly our new butterfly kite.

Chautauqua

We spent a week at a cottage in Chautauqua with Bibi and Grandpa Jim.

We rode bicycles, swam in the lake, read books, jumped on the bed, ate good food, listened to music, and enjoyed nature.

too much fun

After a full day of fun, Lillian takes a few minutes to relax during a subway ride home from the islands.

performance art

We often begin by painting on paper, and always end up painting on ourselves.

Glasses

Yesterday, Lillian and I helped Latham pick out new frames.
While she waited, Lillian tried on all of the kiddie pairs (just for fun).

Wading

Every day, last week, after daycare, we went to the wading pool.
On occasion, Emilia joined us as well.

writing in the sand

"L - I - L - L - I - A - N, that spells 'Me'! "

The Ward's Island Adventures

For dinner, Lillian and I shared a Bison Burger - delish - at a quiet restaurant in Ward's Island (a twenty minute ferry ride from the city).

Then, we played on the beach,
enjoying the sand and water on our
newly pedicured toes.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

We went to the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition at Nathan Philips Square in front of City Hall. I think that Lillian was the harshest critic around. I could tell, though, that she liked the mixed media artists best.

T.G.I.F.E.S. (Thank Goodness It's Friday Evening Sushi)

Lillian's favorite sushi are
Flying Fish Eggs and Salmon Roe,
or "balls e balls" as she calls them.

Deep thoughts

Lillian was incredibly brave to climb all the way to the top of quite a tricky set of steps at the OCAD playground. Afterward, she took a minute to contemplate her route down.

Lillian and Henry

Today was Lillian's first day in the Pre-School room. After I picked her up from daycare, we checked out the new craze in yogurt toppings at Blushberry - popping boba. Then we played on the swings in The Grange Park and got apple juice on Baldwin street. The best part, however, was playing hide-and-seek (barefoot) around Henry Moore's sculptures in front of the AGO.

a quick look back ...

I can't believe that Lillian is in pre-school.
This is a photo of Lillian's first day at daycare.

Oh Canada!

Lillian watched as they raised the Canadian flag in front of City Hall. Happy Canada Day!
